JORDAN BARONE
Late night ferries and metro cards have taken Jordan Barone beyond the New York City borders- and to the Red Planet. The C.O.O. of Red Planet Records, and Staten Island, New York native, echoes a fusion of “Billy Joel meets Drake”, encompassing the singer-songwriter narrative, all rooted in Hip Hop. Whether serenading you with his fingers latched to the piano or taking you through space with synthesizer-infused production, Jordan Barone encapsulates his late nights in the city, ferrying the experience back to the forgotten borough.
Jordan’s early childhood was shaped by Hip-Hop and music business. As early as 10 years old, Jordan sat in on studio sessions for his older brother, Stefan Barone, in their home recording studio, and was present during Stefan’s street team’s promotional meetings. At the same time, Jordan trained in classical piano, crafting his own compositions and lyrics. With a desire to record, Jordan acquired basic knowledge of audio engineering.
In 2013, Jordan interned at prominent recording studios in New York City (Premier Studios, Quad Recording Studios, BlastOff Productions), enrolled at SAE-NY (School of Audio Engineering), and was awarded a fellowship with Mix With The Masters, studying with Young Guru (engineer to Jay-Z and Beyonce) at Studio La Fabrique in Saint Remy, France. He soon served as the Community Relations Manager for Guru’s Era of the Engineer. At this time, Jordan Barone and Stefan Barone formed Red Planet Records, LLC.
From 2015, Jordan worked at BlastOff Productions as a full-time audio engineer, working with artists such as such as A Boogie, PnB Rock, Kehlani, Tory Lanez, Rico Nasty, Raury and more. Jordan also operates as Chief Engineer of his newly minted Red Planet Studios in Staten Island, New York, serving as an engineer to local artists such as Squidnice, Lou the Human, Shoneyin, and more, as well as a producer/songwriter on multiple artists’ projects for independent and major label releases. In 2017, Jordan was awarded maximum funding for a DCA (Department of Cultural Affairs) Premier Grant through Staten Island Arts, towards his debut EP release. In 2018, Jordan left his full-time position at BlastOff Productions to pursue his career as an artist and focus on Red Planet Records, LLC.
Jordan Barone’s debut release, “Same Thing” (Available Now), also served as the premiere release for the independent label, and has been well received, with over 500k streams across all platforms. Barone’s solemn, yet playful, artistic melody focuses on the isolation founded on trepidation in moving forward with love due to past failed relationships. The “Same Thing” Official Music Video serves as a dual-genre feature, with a snippet of “Used To” conveying Barone’s wide range as both a R&B and Hip-Hop artist. Both tracks precede his debut EP, expected to release early 2019. The project will deliver listeners to NYC late nights, devoid relationships, lost lovers, early A.M. ferry rides and city life. The autobiographical narrative presents the sublime introduction to the young man and his story.
Jordan’s second single, “Up Tonight” (Available Now), featuring Staten Island artist and collaborator, VR, explores what happens when you leave the played out party, and challenge conventions for an uplifting experience. Again, with production by Barone himself, the single provides yet another glance into his versatility, this time, with a contemporary trap ballad.
With his independent record label, and the debut release, Jordan Barone intends to solidify his position as a New York songwriting staple, and Staten Island hometown champion.
